10 Unusual Robot Gifts To Fill Your BotJunkie Stocking

With the Christmas season fast approaching, we here at BotJunkie are only too happy to help you make that list for Santa. There are just so many bots, you can’t hope to find them all on your own. What follows is a sampling of just some of the robot goodness that we want to stuff in our stocking. We can’t possibly chronicle every cool robot in one list, but we will be back with more before Christmas.

10. The Mr. Clock Radio. All the cuteness of a robot at night, but come morning he wakes you up in a variety of 30 different methods. Some very annoying. Everything from gently asking you to get up, to barking drill sergeant-style orders. He’ll tell you your fortune too and read the time out loud. He can wink and blink, react to light or motion, and play music via AM, FM or iPod/MP3. If you know a slacker who absolutely needs a wake-up bot, you can get one for $79.99.

9. Plush Robots. The company that makes these was started by 2 Japanese guys who sold their collectables across Japan by motorcycle. If you like plush cuteness, combined with all things robot, these are for you. They are also a good way to condition young children to fear and worship their future robot overlords.

8. USB Snowbot. I have seen the coolest Snowman ever and it’s name is Snowbot. This thing is basically a cross between Frosty the Snowman and a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica. It’s got articulated arms and an eye scanner that can change color. You can control the speed of the scanner with a knob. They say that it also has Authentic Snowbot Sound, whatever that sounds like. Priced at $12.99 they will make us their servants very quickly before the cold season comes to an end.

7. Robo-Chic Earrings. Despite what most guys may think, girls like robots too. You have to give to get, so give her these cute retro earrings complete with googly eyes. The price is $14.

6. R2-D2 computer speakers. Though I’m not sure why they felt the need to give R2 a decapitated look, these will make the geek in you very happy. They stand 4.72 inches tall and come in blue and red. $40 per droid pair. Forget what the Stormtrooper said. This IS the droid you’re looking for.

5. Mega Mech Inflatable robot. This mech stands 48 inches tall and propels itself using wheels. He even talks. A robot you can blow up. Literally. For an inflatable robot, it looks pretty cool.
You can get him for $40 at Walmart.

4. The Dalek webcam. Robot fans and Doctor Who fans will both appreciate this new Dalek with a webcam inside. One of the coolest webcams ever. Aside from wanting you dead, this Dalek is also plug and play, with LEDs that let you know when it gets powered on. A built in microphone lets you to send sound along with your video. You know, in case he creeps you out and you need to call for help.

3. Gort! A replica of the robot from the classic Sci-Fi movie The Day The Earth Stood Still. He’s an 8.5″ tin wind-up robot replica of the movie robot. His design may be simple, but that’s what makes him beautiful. Klaatu Barada Nikto. $29.99.

2. The infamous C3P0 Penis Error card. Card #207. This is for the robot collector with a sense of humor. There are a lot of stories about just how it came into existence, but I think it’s pretty obvious that some joker at the factory was responsible for giving “Goldenrod” his scepter. You can get one for between $15-$25 on Ebay.

1. K-9 The ultimate robot dog companion. Maybe it’s just me, but I have always had a special place in my heart for K-9. You can now own this sweet 1/4 Scale replica of the Doctor Who robot dog. He can speak 7 different phrases, has an extendable Nose Blaster(Which has blaster firing sound effects), a removable side panel as well as lights in side panel and on back. The price is $59.99.
