Dextre Space Robot Takes Over ISS
Writing by Evan Ackerman on Tuesday, 1 of April , 2008 at 3:44 am

This comes straight from NASA, so it must be true:
“In a surprising and potentially troubling request, the new space station robot known as Dextre demanded that astronauts refer to it in the future at “Dextre the Magnificent.” Brandishing power tools that would make any handyperson blush, the mobile servicing system thanked humans for creating it and promised a glorious future where humans would retain an important role in the new robot order.”

Nice one, you accelerated my heart beat rate for almost 5 seconds. Dextre could have been living with new colony on Mars that Google wanted to develop. But this won’t probably happen before next April 1st.

Dex means well! Language isn’t this robot’s area of expertise, people. I’m a minor member of our dexterous friend’s Canadian software dev team… Obviously the details are classified, but I can say this:
I’ve seen similar text before, and it wouldn’t be the first time engineers have hidden sentimental messages in space equipment ;-).
