Thailand Rescue Robot Championship

Somebody from Society Of Robots was on hand recently to check out the 2008 Thailand Rescue Robot Championship for urban search and rescue (USAR) bots. The robots (autonomous or teleoperated) navigate a complex and challenging simulated urban environment looking for a fake human body. The video is a little bit slow (the promo banner above being unforgivably misleading), but there’s still some good robot footage… Part 1 is below, and you can watch Part 2, after the jump.
On to Part 2…

good ‘ol society of robots.
The Society Wants YOU
to join the ranks of the Robot elite
I don’t like the term “roboticist” *it sounds like a cyst, like there’s something growing on my face* but that seems to be the common terminology for someone who makes robots.
I’ve been trying to think of something else.
Anyone got any ideas?

This is admin from SoR . . . it was me who filmed it . . . if you have ideas to make this type of video more fun let me know. I left in a bit of Thai language stuff, just too lazy to subtitle it all . . . but I think it showed the Thai way of holding a robot competition =P
