Video Friday: Roomba Sumo

Writing by Evan Ackerman on Friday, 22 of May , 2009 at 8:35 pm

There are six different sumo events at RoboGames this year, from 25 gram autonomous to 3 kilogram remote controlled. But this is the first I’ve heard of sumo with hacked Roombas. It does kinda seems like the Roomba platform would be perfect for sumo… It’s got a bumper to tell if it’s pushing something, edge sensors to keep it in the ring, and maybe it could even use its dock detector to spot the enemy Roomba. Oh, I like how the 400 series seems to consistently kick the ass of the 500 series. Hrmph. At least my 500 series is prettier.
