Voicebot Sends Your Messages To Parliament

Writing by Evan Ackerman on Friday, 11 of September , 2009 at 12:03 am

In a sort of cross between Robovox and the Kuka CalligraphyBot, Voicebot is a Kuka robot arm that is designed to sit in the UK’s Parliament and write out questions from people to their representatives (or whatever it is they’ve got over there).

Although the website asks you to “keep it clean” and “speak from the heart,” the robot seems quite happy to write “balls” eighteen times in a row, although at some point the submissions will be vetted before actual delivery to someone who might not appreciate the sentiment. The robot will start transcribing questions this October, and run until October 16.

thanks for sharing. everything does get approved, but this is more to do with stopping spam then anything else. The “balls” thing was a joke because we figured this would be the kind of thing some *clever” folk would try to write, so we tried to cut off at the past, and encourage people to write more intelligent responses.

quick thing, the robot is transcribing now, and will carry on writing messages write up until it goes into Parliament, so come and have a play if you want.

glad you like the work.

Nice gimic, but a printer would be just as effective.

But would anybody pay attention to a lengthy printed document? Isn’t that what already happens and is proving to be pretty ineffective?

I reckon this gives people an extra reason for speaking to the government and gives the government an extra reason to pay attention to the responses.

Okay, they can make a robot write. This looks like a waste of paper though.
