More Things Quadrotors Can Do That You Can’t: Juggling

Writing by Evan Ackerman on Tuesday, 7 of December , 2010 at 12:07 am

Wow. Unlike that blind robot juggler, this quadrotor is juggling one ball the hard way, with a tennis racket duct-taped to itself. Someone just needs to toss a couple more balls in there and see what happens…

The guys at ETH Zurich are doing some really great things. Dancing, and now juggling. I wonder if they would consider strapping a Kinect to their quadrotor?

Sorry, not to be pedantic, but that’s tossing a ball up and down, not juggling.

Juggling involves more objects than “hands” such that at least one object is airborne at all times.

In the above video, if the quadrotor were switching back and forth between two (or more) balls in the air, that would be juggling.

We have done something similar recently, only with a different platform: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omGHeVmv6NI. This system juggles two balls, although not as reliably as one ball.
